Caritas Africa and OCDI Caritas Togo are donating food to 126 people in the community of Zogbépimé (Togo) on the occasion of the commemoration of the 6th World Day of the Poor.

On Sunday, November 13, 2022, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 6ème On World Day of the Poor, Caritas Africa partnered with OCDI Caritas Togo to make a symbolic donation of food to 126 members of the community of Zogbepimé, a village located 56 km northwest of Lomé, the capital.

The ceremony was organized at the end of a mass said in the Immaculate Conception chapel of Zogbepimé by the Reverend Father Julien NOMANYO. This ceremony was an opportunity for the delegations of Caritas Africa and OCDI Caritas Togo to present their respective organizations and to explain the foundations of the commemoration of the World Day of the Poor and the message of the Holy Father Pope Francis for this edition developed around the theme: “Jesus Christ became poor for your sake” (2 Cor 8:9).

The two delegations then urged the community of Zogbépimé to perpetuate the gestures of support to their neighbors in need.

To close the ceremony, the OCDI Caritas Togo invited the Catholic faithful of Zogbépimé to actively participate in the week of the OCDI which is held from Christ the King Sunday to the first Sunday of the Avant of each year. As a reminder, the OCDI week is a week during which the Catholic faithful mobilize financial and material means to help the poorest.
