As expected, Pope Francis on Wednesday elevated Malian Archbishop Jean Zerbo to the rank of cardinal, the first in Mali’s history.

Monsignor Jean ZERBO Search Jean ZERBO was elevated alongside a Swede, a Spaniard, a Laotian and a Salvadoran by Pope Francis during a ceremony held on June 28 at the Vatican.

This appointment puts an end to rumors that Malian Archbishop Jean Zerbo will not be in Rome for health reasons.
