Equatorial Guinea is one of the smallest countries in Africa, comprising a mainland and islands. It is the only Spanish-speaking African country. It has a large number of Catholics, perhaps the highest percentage in Africa, although the Catholic Church was persecuted during the dictatorship of Macías Nguema (1968-1979).

Caritas Equatorial Guinea was founded in 1980. The organization’s work focuses on helping the poor and disadvantaged, and plays an important role in emergency situations (floods, fires). It also participates in the fight against AIDS, and instructs mothers on hygiene and nutrition, etc. Among the important events is the Caritas Day, which is celebrated on Corpus Christi.

Caritas Equatorial Guinea has forged alliances with other Caritas members, such as Caritas Spain, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and Secours Catholique (Caritas France).
