Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) was founded in 1910 as the National Conference of Catholic Charities (its name changed in 1986), and is the largest private network of social organizations in the United States. As a national office with 164 member organizations, CCUSA supports the work of Catholic Charities throughout the country, provides disaster relief, and promotes poverty reduction through research and legislative reform. CCUSA’s member diocesan associations and affiliated organizations operate 2,598 service sites in 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories.

Catholic Charities’ mission is to provide services to people in need, to advocate for just social structures, and to invite the entire church and other people of good will to do the same.

CCUSA member organizations provide a wide range of programs covering services in the areas of: pregnancy and adoption support; affordable housing; immigrant and refugee support; integrated health and nutrition; leadership development; disaster resilience and recovery; social enterprise initiatives; and advocacy and social policy initiatives.

Catholic Charities is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, on the Potomac River across from Washington, D.C. It has more than 65,000 employees, and 300,000 volunteers who assist CCUSA members nationwide. CCUSA assists organizations by providing workshops and training on managing social service programs and agencies; strengthening Catholic identity and parish involvement; developing organizational and leadership skills; and strengthening disaster preparedness, response and recovery.
